Agriculture is a primary activity in India which is practised by most of the people. Today almost 50% of Indian population is engaged in agricultural activities because agriculture is done to provide food to a large number of population and in this way the farmers and peasants their small wages by providing crops and rearing livestock for commercial use and sale in the markets.Two-thirds of Indian population is still dependent on agriculture as it allows the farmers to supply food and crops to the people if the country and earn their livelihood. They also keep some of the produce for themselves too to meet their daily and personal needs and requirements.Without agriculture or farming, people of non-sector would also suffer as Indian economy is dependent on the agriculture which provides food and agriculture and proper cultivation of crops is dependent on monsoon and good quality seeds. So if crops in a season did not flourish out, then farmers would have to suffer a huge loss which would make the government raise the prices and will affect the economy and population of the country as people would think one or two days before buying the vegetables whose price is so high as they farmers suffered a huge loss . Sometimes, favourable climate conditions and topography are also not available due to which crops does not grow properly. Thus , thus is the reason why agriculture or cultivation of crops on a small area or large is important for the development and growth of the country. Therefore, agriculture is called the backbone of the Indian economy.
