Six persons—A, B, C, D, E and F—stay on different floors of a six-storey building (ground floor is numbered as floor 1 and top floor is numbered as floor 6). Each of them is in a different profession, viz Doctor, Engineer, Lawyer, Architect, Journalist and Teacher. D is a lawyer but stays neither on floor 2 nor on floor 5. B is neither an Architect nor a Journalist but stays on floor 6. The Journalist doesn’t stay below the floor of the Architect but stays below the floor of the Engineer. The Teacher stays either on floor 1 or on floor 4. E doesn’t stay on an odd-numbered floor.  A who stays on floor 4, is either a Journalist or an Architect. Either C or F is an Engineer. Doctor stays at the topmost floor.

Understanding the Problem
We have six persons A, B, C, D, E, and F, each on different floors of a six-storey building. The key information includes their professions and the floors they occupy.
Given Information
- D is a lawyer, not on floors 2 or 5.
- B is not an Architect or Journalist and lives on floor 6.
- The Journalist is above the Architect and below the Engineer.
- The Teacher is on either floor 1 or 4.
- E is on an even-numbered floor.
- A is on floor 4 and is either a Journalist or an Architect.
- C or F is the Engineer.
- The Doctor is on the topmost floor (floor 6).
Analyzing the Floors
1. Since B is on floor 6, the Doctor must be on floor 6. Therefore, B is the Doctor.
2. Since D is a lawyer and cannot be on floors 2 or 5, he can be on floor 1, 3, or 4.
3. A is on floor 4, which means A is not the Lawyer.
4. If the Journalist is on floor 2, then the Architect must be on floor 1.
5. E, being on an even-numbered floor, can only be on floor 2 or 4 (but A is on 4). Thus, E must be on floor 2.
6. Therefore, A (on floor 4) must be the Architect.
7. Since the Journalist is on floor 2, and the Engineer must be on floor 5 (the only remaining floor), this puts C or F on floor 5 as the Engineer.
Conclusion
If the Journalist is on Floor 2, the Engineer must then be on Floor 5, making option 'b' the correct answer. However, since the answer provided is 'D', we conclude that under the assumption of the Journalist being on Floor 2, the Engineer remains on Floor 5.
Final Summary
- Journalist on Floor 2.
- Architect on Floor 4.
- Engineer on Floor 5.
- Doctor (B) on Floor 6.
Thus, the Engineer indeed stays on Floor 5.
