Consider the following phenomenon occuring in a power system:1. Corona...
Corona loss:
Corona loss is a phenomenon that occurs in high voltage transmission lines when the electric field surrounding the conductors exceeds a certain threshold. This causes ionization of the surrounding air and the formation of a corona discharge. The corona discharge results in power loss in the form of heat and light. Corona loss is more significant in high voltage transmission lines due to the higher electric field strength.

Charging current:
Charging current is the current that flows through the capacitance of a transmission line when it is energized. When a transmission line is energized, the conductors and insulators of the line form a capacitance. During the charging process, the voltage across the line gradually increases and the charging current flows to charge the capacitance. This charging current can cause power loss in the form of heat.

Ferranti effect:
The Ferranti effect is a phenomenon that occurs in long transmission lines when the receiving end voltage is higher than the sending end voltage. This effect is due to the capacitance of the transmission line, which causes voltage to be higher at the receiving end due to capacitive reactance. The Ferranti effect can lead to overvoltage problems at the receiving end, which can damage equipment.

Dielectric loss:
Dielectric loss is the power loss that occurs in the insulating material of a transmission line. When an electric field is applied to an insulating material, it causes the material to polarize, leading to energy loss in the form of heat. Dielectric loss is dependent on the frequency of the applied electric field and the properties of the insulating material.

Skin effect:
Skin effect is a phenomenon that occurs in high frequency transmission lines, where the current tends to flow more towards the outer surface of the conductor. This is due to the tendency of high frequency currents to concentrate near the surface, reducing the effective cross-sectional area available for current flow. Skin effect increases the effective resistance of the conductor, leading to power loss in the form of heat.

Associated with transmission lines:
All of the mentioned phenomena are associated with transmission lines. Corona loss is a common problem in high voltage transmission lines, charging current occurs during the energization of the line, the Ferranti effect can occur in long transmission lines, dielectric loss occurs in the insulating material of the line, and skin effect is relevant in high frequency transmission lines. Therefore, the correct answer is option 'D' - 1, 2, 3, and 5.
