Mechanical and Fluid Friction:

Unrestricted Expansion:
During the unrestrained expansion of a gas, some amount of work is done by the gas. However, this work cannot be completely converted into useful work since some of it is lost due to the unrestrained expansion of the gas. This loss of work is irreversible and hence unrestricted expansion is also a cause of irreversibility.

Heat Transfer with a Finite Temperature Difference:
During the process of heat transfer between two bodies having a finite temperature difference, some amount of heat is always lost to the surroundings due to the difference in temperature. This loss of heat is irreversible and hence heat transfer with a finite temperature difference is also a cause of irreversibility.
