Verified Answer
A man rows down a river 18 km in 4 hours with the stream and returns i...
Speed = Distance/Time
Downstream Speed = 18/4 = 4.5 km/h
Upstream Speed = 18/10 = 1.8 km/h
∴ Statement 1 is true
Speed of the man in still water = ½ × (Speed in downstream + Speed in upstream)
⇒ ½ × (4.5 + 1.8) = 3.15 km/h
∴ Statement 2 is true
Speed of the stream = ½ × (Speed in downstream – Speed in upstream)
⇒ ½ × (4.5 – 1.8) = 1.35 km/h
∴ Statement 3 is true
∴ Statement 1, 2 and 3 are correct
