It is the second vessel out of the four vessels that have to be commissioned under Water Jet Fast Attack Craft. The first one was INS Tarmugli.
These are built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers for the Indian Navy.
It is named after the Tihayu island of Nicobar.
These vessels are designed to perform patrolling work, anti-piracy and rescue operations at the Economic Exclusive Zone of India
