Verified Answer
Consider the following statements with reference to coriolis force?1. ...
Coriolis force is an apparent force caused by the earth‘s rotation. The Coriolis force is responsible for deflecting winds towards the right in the northern hemisphere and towards the left in the southern hemisphere. The Coriolis force is directly proportional to the angle of latitude. It is maximum at the poles and is absent at the equator. So, at the equator, the Coriolis force is zero and the wind blows perpendicular to the isobars. The low pressure gets filled instead of getting intensified. That is the reason why tropical cyclones are not formed near the equator.

Consider the following statements with reference to coriolis force?1. ...
's rotation.
2. It causes moving objects on the earth's surface to deviate from a straight path.
3. The Coriolis force is stronger at the equator and weaker at the poles.
4. It influences weather patterns and ocean currents.
5. The Coriolis force only affects objects in the northern hemisphere.

Which of the statements are true?

1. True - The Coriolis force is an apparent force caused by the earth's rotation. As the earth rotates, objects moving over its surface appear to be deflected.
2. True - The Coriolis force causes moving objects on the earth's surface to deviate from a straight path. It deflects the motion to the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere.
3. True - The Coriolis force is stronger at the equator and weaker at the poles. This is because the rotational velocity of the earth is highest at the equator and decreases towards the poles.
4. True - The Coriolis force influences weather patterns and ocean currents. It plays a crucial role in the formation of trade winds, jet streams, and the circulation of ocean currents.
5. False - The Coriolis force affects objects in both the northern and southern hemispheres. It deflects moving objects to the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere.
