Science is one of the most interesting subjects in Class 8. It helps students to understand the world around them and how it works. Students are introduced to basic concepts of physics, chemistry and biology in Class 8. Having revision notes handy is always helpful to revise and remember the concepts. Here are some revision notes for Class 8 Science.
Physical Science
- Matter: Anything that has mass and takes up space is called matter.
- States of Matter: Matter can exist in three states- solid, liquid and gas.
- Properties of Matter: Matter has several properties like mass, volume, density, solubility, etc.
- Force: Force is a push or pull on an object. It can change the motion of an object.
- Work and Energy: Work is done when a force causes a displacement of an object. Energy is the ability to do work.
- Simple Machines: Simple machines are devices that make work easier. They include pulleys, levers, inclined planes, etc.
Chemical Science
- Elements and Compounds: Elements are pure substances that cannot be broken down into simpler substances. Compounds are substances made up of two or more elements.
- Chemical Reactions: Chemical reactions involve the breaking and formation of chemical bonds. They result in the formation of new substances.
- Acids, Bases and Salts: Acids have a pH of less than 7, bases have a pH greater than 7, and neutral substances have a pH of 7. Salts are formed when an acid reacts with a base.
- Metals and Non-Metals: Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity, while non-metals are poor conductors.
- Carbon and its Compounds: Carbon is a versatile element that forms the basis of many organic compounds.
Biological Science
- Cell: The cell is the basic unit of life. All living organisms are made up of cells.
- Tissues and Organs: Tissues are groups of cells that perform a specific function, while organs are groups of tissues that work together to perform a specific function.
- Nutrition: Nutrition is the process by which organisms obtain food and convert it into energy.
- Respiration: Respiration is the process by which organisms convert food into energy.
- Reproduction: Reproduction is the process by which organisms produce offspring.
These revision notes cover the basic concepts of Class 8 Science. By revising these concepts regularly, students can build a strong foundation in science and perform well in exams.
