Condition of the Cricket

The poem "The Ant and the Cricket" by Leigh Hunt is a fable that teaches the value of hard work and planning for the future. In the poem, the cricket is portrayed as a lazy and carefree creature who spends his summer singing and enjoying the sunshine, while the ant works hard to store food for the winter.

As the winter approaches, the cricket realizes that he hasn't made any provision for the cold and harsh season. He becomes desperate and cold and goes to the ant's house to ask for help. The ant, who has already stored enough food for the winter, refuses to help the cricket and tells him to dance the winter away as he had sung the summer away.

The condition of the cricket in the poem can be described as desperate and helpless. The cricket had been enjoying his life in the summer, singing and playing, without any thought of the future. However, as the winter approaches, he realizes that he has made a mistake by not working hard and preparing for the cold season.

The cricket's lack of planning and foresight has left him in a difficult situation. He is cold, hungry and in need of help. He turns to the ant, who has been diligent and hardworking, for assistance. However, the ant refuses to help him, as he believes that the cricket should have thought about the future and worked hard like him.

In conclusion, the condition of the cricket in the poem is a cautionary tale to those who do not plan and prepare for the future. The poem teaches us that hard work, diligence and foresight are important virtues that we should all cultivate if we want to succeed and prosper in life.

The condition of the cricket was bad. He could not even stand in that harsh climate. He found nothing to eat in his cupboard. He was starving as he did not have any food to eat in winters. No one helped him. The ants also refused him by saying that they never lend nor borrow. Poor cricket!
