N. When light enters the prism, it is refracted twice - once when it enters the prism and again when it exits the prism. The amount of refraction depends on the angle at which the light enters the prism and the angle of the prism's faces.

The amount of refraction is given by Snell's law:

n₁sinθ₁ = n₂sinθ₂

where n₁ and n₂ are the refractive indices of the media on either side of the interface, θ₁ is the angle of incidence, and θ₂ is the angle of refraction.

In the case of a prism, the incident light enters at an angle, and is refracted towards the base of the prism. It then hits the opposite face of the prism, and is refracted again, this time away from the base of the prism. The angle of deviation of the light (the angle between the incident and emergent rays) depends on the angle of the prism and the refractive index of the material.

The amount of deviation can be calculated using the formula:

A = (n - 1)α

where A is the angle of deviation, n is the refractive index of the material, and α is the angle of the prism.

Prisms are used in a variety of applications, such as in optics to bend and redirect light, in spectroscopy to separate light into its component colors, and in surveying to measure angles.
