Use of chemical fertilizers can be harmful and degrade the soil for they are responsible for degradation if we tke the excessive amounts oaf fertilizers and they are also responsible for water pollution i.e. often fertilizers wash away from the fields causing water pollution and make it difficult for aquatic organisms to survive in water bodies. Due to this, bio fertilizers were used which includes cyanobacteria (blue green algae), Rhizobium, asperillium , nostoc etc. Fertilizers does not provide humus to the soil and are nutrient specific which made the soil deficient in other nutrients that are also required by the plants.
they do not enrich the organic matter because the soil microorganisms are not present which are responsible for decaying the soil . They are not bulky and cannot be transported to other places . For spraying fertilisers and pesticides, several measures were to taken pre and post applications of fertilizers. short-term benefits of fertilizers are less than the long term benefits of maures and compost or green manure.
