    (i) Number of B-O-B bonds:
    - Each borate ion (B4O7) contains 4 B-O-B bonds
    - The formula unit of borax contains two borate ions
    - Therefore, the total number of B-O-B bonds in borax is 8

    (ii) Number of B-B bonds:
    - Boron does not form B-B bonds in borax or any other compound
    - Therefore, the number of B-B bonds in borax is 0

    (iii) Number of sp2 hybridized B atoms:
    - Each borate ion contains 3 sp2 hybridized boron atoms
    - The formula unit of borax contains two borate ions
    - Therefore, the total number of sp2 hybridized B atoms in borax is 6

    Therefore, the values of x, y, and z are:
    - x = 8 (number of B-O-B bonds)
