A and B were partners in a firm who share profits in the ratio of 5:3....
And B's share. What is the new profit sharing ratio?

Let's first calculate the total profit sharing ratio before C was admitted:

Total ratio = 5 + 3 = 8

Now, we need to find out how much share C will have. According to the question, C is admitted for 1/10th share of half, which means:

C's share = 1/10 * 1/2 = 1/20

Out of this 1/20 share, half was gifted by A, which means:

Gifted share = 1/20 * 1/2 = 1/40

So, A's share will reduce by 1/40. Now, C takes the remaining 1/40 share equally from A and B's share, which means:

C takes 1/80 share from A and B each.

Now, let's calculate the new profit sharing ratio:

A's new share = 5/8 - 1/40 - 1/80 = 49/80

B's new share = 3/8 - 1/80 - 1/80 = 23/80

C's share = 1/20 + 1/80 + 1/80 = 1/10

New profit sharing ratio = 49:23:10

Therefore, the new profit sharing ratio is 49:23:10.
