Equation of normal to the curve y = x(2 - x) at the point (2, 0) is
  • a)
    x - 2y = 2
  • b)
    2x + y = 4
  • c)
    x - 2y + 2 = 0
  • d)
    None of these
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?

Equation of normal to the curve y = x(2 - x) at the point (2, 0) isa)x...
Since :-
Y = 2x - x^2
thus,
y' = 2 - 2x
at point (2 , 0) :-
y' = 2 - 4 = - 2
slope of the normal = -1/y' = 1/2
Equation of the normal :-
(Y - y ) = slope ( X - x)
here x = 2 , y = 0
thus,
(Y - 0) = (1/2)(X - 2)
X - 2Y = 2
we can clearly see that the option (A) is the correct answer
