Mucous glands are present all over the skin of the frog. They secrete a slimy substance known as mucous which helps in keeping the skin moist and protects it from drying out. Mucous secreted by these glands also helps in reducing friction while swimming or crawling.
2. Poison Glands:
Poison glands are present on the skin of some species of frogs such as the poison dart frogs. These glands secrete a toxic substance known as poison which helps in deterring predators. These frogs are brightly colored to warn predators of their toxic nature.
