(a) In order to calculate the current flowing through the circuit, we can use Ohm's law:

V = IR

where V is the voltage across the circuit, I is the current flowing through the circuit, and R is the total resistance of the circuit.

In this case, the total resistance of the circuit is the sum of the internal resistance of the battery and the external resistance of the circuit:

R = r + Rext

where r is the internal resistance of the battery and Rext is the external resistance of the circuit.

Using the values given, we have:

R = 5.0 + 10 = 15 Ω

where we assume that the external resistance of the circuit is 10 Ω.

Now, we can use Ohm's law to find the current:

I = V/R

I = 12/15

I = 0.8 A

Therefore, the current flowing through the circuit is 0.8 A.
