Verified Answer
A person goes from point J to K with a speed of 80 km/hr and returns b...
GIVEN:
A person goes from point J to K with a speed of 80 km/hr and returns back with a speed 120 km/hr
FORMULA USED:
Speed = Distance/Time
Average speed = Total distance/ Total time taken
CALCULATION:
Let the distance be ‘d’ km
Time taken while going = d/80
Time taken while returning = d/120
Total time taken = d/80 + d/120
Average speed = Total distance/ Total time taken
Total distance is equal to twice the distance between J and K i.e 2d
Average speed = 2d/(d/80 + d/120) = 2 × 120 × 80/200 = 96 km/hr

A person goes from point J to K with a speed of 80 km/hr and returns b...
Given:
- Speed while going from J to K = 80 km/hr
- Speed while returning from K to J = 120 km/hr

To find:
- Average speed of the person while going from J to K and coming back

Explanation:
Average speed is defined as the total distance traveled divided by the total time taken.

Let's assume that the distance from J to K and back is 'd' km.

Calculating the time:
- Time taken while going from J to K = distance / speed = d / 80
- Time taken while returning from K to J = distance / speed = d / 120

Calculating the total time:
- Total time taken = time taken while going + time taken while returning
= d / 80 + d / 120
= (3d + 2d) / (3 * 2 * 80)
= 5d / 480
= d / 96

Calculating the average speed:
- Average speed = total distance / total time
= 2d / (d / 96)
= 2 * 96
= 192 km/hr

Conclusion:
The average speed of the person while going from J to K and coming back is 192 km/hr.
Therefore, the correct answer is option B) 96.
