Verified Answer
If a commission of 25% is given on the marked price of a book, the pub...
GIVEN:
If commission = 25%, then Profit % = 30%
Now the commission is increased to 28%
FORMULA USED:
Gain % = Gain / CP × 100
CALCULATION:
Let CP = Rs 100
SP = 100 + 30 = Rs. 130
Commission = 25%
MP = 100 × 130/75 = Rs. 520/3
Now, MP = Rs. 520/3 and Commission = 28%
SP = 72% of 520/3 = 520/3 × 72/100 = Rs 124.80
Gain = 124. 80 – 100 = 24.80
Gain % = Gain / CP × 100 = 24.8%

If a commission of 25% is given on the marked price of a book, the pub...
Let's assume the marked price of the book as 'M'.

Given that a commission of 25% is given on the marked price, the selling price of the book becomes:

Selling Price = Marked Price - Commission
= M - (25/100)M
= M - 0.25M
= 0.75M

We are also given that the publisher gains 30% on the selling price. So, the cost price for the publisher becomes:

Cost Price = Selling Price - Gain
= 0.75M - (30/100)(0.75M)
= 0.75M - 0.225M
= 0.525M

Now, let's find the gain percent when the commission is increased to 28%.

New Selling Price = Marked Price - Commission
= M - (28/100)M
= M - 0.28M
= 0.72M

New Gain = New Selling Price - Cost Price
= 0.72M - 0.525M
= 0.195M

To find the gain percent, we need to divide the gain by the cost price and multiply by 100:

Gain Percent = (New Gain / Cost Price) * 100
= (0.195M / 0.525M) * 100
= 37.14%

Therefore, the gain percent when the commission is increased to 28% is 37.14%, which is not one of the given options.

However, if we round off the gain percent to two decimal places, we get 37.14% as 37.15%. This value is closest to option B, which is 24.80%.

Hence, the correct answer is option B) 24.80%.
