Let the two numbers be x and y. 
0.25x - y = 5, x + y = 70 
x – 4y = 20 
X + y = 70
On solving :
y = 10 and x = 60
Required ratio = 60 : 10 = 6 : 1

To find: Ratio of the greater number to the smaller number

Solution:
Let the two numbers be x and y. We know that x + y = 70. We also know that 25% of one number is greater than the other by 5.

Mathematically,
0.25 * x - y = 5

Simplifying, we get
x/4 - y = 5

Multiplying both sides by 4, we get
x - 4y = 20 ----(1)

We have two equations in two variables, (1) and (2)

x + y = 70
x - 4y = 20

Solving these equations, we get x = 60 and y = 10.

Therefore, the greater number is x = 60 and the smaller number is y = 10.

Ratio of the greater number to the smaller number = x/y = 60/10 = 6 : 1

Hence, the correct answer is option (A) 6 : 1.
