In a glomerulus, there are several components that work together to filter blood and remove waste products from the body.

1. Capillaries: The glomerulus contains a network of tiny blood vessels called capillaries. These capillaries have very thin walls that allow for the exchange of substances between the blood and the surrounding tissues.

2. Podocytes: Podocytes are specialized cells that line the capillaries in the glomerulus. They have finger-like projections called foot processes that wrap around the capillaries and form filtration slits. These filtration slits help to filter out waste products and excess fluid from the blood.

3. Basement membrane: The capillaries in the glomerulus are surrounded by a thin layer of extracellular matrix called the basement membrane. This membrane acts as a filter, preventing large molecules like proteins from passing through while allowing smaller molecules like water and ions to pass through.

4. Bowman's capsule: The glomerulus is located within a cup-shaped structure called Bowman's capsule. This capsule collects the filtered fluid, known as filtrate, and transports it to the renal tubules for further processing.

Together, these components work to filter the blood and remove waste products through a process called glomerular filtration.
