Solution:

Given,

Length of workpiece (L) = 175 mm

Cutting speed (V) = 30 m/min

Cutting stroke to idle stroke velocity ratio = 0.84

We know that,

Cutting speed (V) = (2*L*S*N)/(60*1000)

Where S is the stroke length and N is the number of strokes per minute.

Rearranging the above equation, we get

N = (V*60*1000)/(2*L*S)

Substituting the given values, we get

N = (30*60*1000)/(2*175*S)

N = 514.29/S

Now, we need to find the stroke/min of the shaping tool. Let the idle stroke velocity be V1 and cutting stroke velocity be V2. Then,

Cutting stroke to idle stroke velocity ratio = V2/V1 = 0.84

V2 = 0.84*V1

We know that the total time for one stroke is given by

T = (2*S)/(V1+V2)

The time for cutting stroke and idle stroke are given by

T2 = (S/V2) and T1 = (S/V1)
