Calculation of New Profit Ratio

Given:

- A and B are partners sharing profit in the ratio of 3:2.
- C is admitted into the partnership.
- C is given ½ share in the profit.
- C acquires his share from A and B in the ratio of 3:1.

To calculate the new profit ratio, we need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Find the total profit share of A and B before the admission of C.

- Let the total profit be x.
- A's profit share = 3x/5
- B's profit share = 2x/5
- Total profit share of A and B = 3x/5 + 2x/5 = x

Step 2: Find C's profit share.

- C is given ½ share in the profit, i.e., 1/2x.
- C acquires his share from A and B in the ratio of 3:1.
- Let C's share from A be 3y.
- Then, C's share from B will be y.
- So, 3y + y = 1/2x
- 4y = 1/2x
- y = 1/8x
- C's share from A = 3y = 3/8x
- C's share from B = y = 1/8x

Step 3: Find the new profit share of A, B, and C.

- A's new profit share = A's old profit share - C's share from A + C's share from C
- = 3x/5 - 3/8x + 3/16x
- = 27/40x
- B's new profit share = B's old profit share - C's share from B + C's share from C
- = 2x/5 - 1/8x + 1/16x
- = 11/40x
- C's new profit share = C's share from C
- = 1/16x

Step 4: Find the new profit ratio.

- New profit ratio of A:B:C = 27/40x : 11/40x : 1/16x
- Simplifying, we get 27:11:2

Therefore, the new profit ratio is 27:11:2.
