The Teachings and Legacy

Gautama Buddha spent the remaining years of his life traveling and teaching his newfound wisdom. His teachings, known as the Dharma, emphasized the Four Noble Truths: the truth of suffering, the truth of the origin of suffering, the truth of the cessation of suffering, and the truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering.

Gautama Buddha's teachings were transmitted orally and later recorded in the Tripitaka, the sacred scriptures of Buddhism.
