Explanation:
• Group 18 elements are known as noble gases which are inert in nature because of their stable electronic configuration. Their electronic configuration is ns2 np6. All the noble gases have completely filled outermost s and p orbitals.
• Helium is the first element of group 18, and its electronic configuration is 1s2. It has only two electrons in its outermost shell which is similar to other noble gases.
• Helium is very stable and almost inert, similar to other noble gases. It does not react with other elements easily due to its stable electronic configuration.
• The properties of Helium are similar to p-block elements as they also have completely filled outermost p orbitals. The p-block elements are located on the right side of the periodic table.
• Therefore, the Assertion is true because Helium is placed in group 18 along with p-block elements due to its similar properties.

Reason (R) is false because:
• Helium does not show properties similar to p-block elements because it is not a p-block element. It is a s-block element as its outermost electrons are present in the s-orbital.
• The properties of Helium are similar to noble gases, which are also present in group 18.
• Hence, Reason (R) is false.

Therefore, the correct answer is option (c) A is true but R is false.
