Fluid statics is the branch of fluid mechanics that deals with fluids at rest, i.e., without any motion or deformation. In this branch of fluid mechanics, we study the behavior of fluids under the influence of three fundamental forces: gravity force, pressure force, and surface tension force.

Gravity Force in Fluid Statics:

Gravity force is one of the fundamental forces that influence fluid mechanics. It is the force that pulls the fluid towards the center of the earth. The magnitude of the force depends upon the mass of the fluid and the acceleration due to gravity. In fluid statics, we study the pressure distribution in the fluid under the influence of gravity force. This is known as hydrostatic pressure.

Pressure Force in Fluid Statics:

Pressure force is another fundamental force that affects fluid mechanics. It is the force exerted by a fluid on a solid surface due to the pressure difference between the fluid and the solid surface. In fluid statics, we study the pressure distribution in the fluid due to the pressure force. This is known as hydrostatic pressure.

The pressure in the fluid at any point is directly proportional to the depth of the point from the free surface of the fluid. This relationship is known as Pascal's law. The pressure distribution in a fluid at rest is uniform in all directions and is known as hydrostatic pressure.

Surface Tension Force in Fluid Statics:

Surface tension is another fundamental force that influences fluid mechanics. It is the force that causes the surface of a liquid to contract and form a shape with minimum surface area. In fluid statics, we study the behavior of fluids under the influence of surface tension force.

Conclusion:

Therefore, fluid statics deals with the study of fluids at rest under the influence of three fundamental forces: gravity force, pressure force, and surface tension force. Among these three forces, gravity force and pressure force have a more significant impact on fluid mechanics.
