At a point of constructive interference, the two coherent waves will have the same phase and will add up to produce a resultant wave with an increased amplitude.

The intensity of a wave is proportional to the square of its amplitude. Therefore, if the intensity of each individual wave is I, the resultant intensity at a point of constructive interference will be four times the intensity of each individual wave.

Mathematically,

Resultant intensity = 2 * (Amplitude)^2 = 2 * (sqrt(I))^2 = 4I

Therefore, the resultant intensity at a point of constructive interference will be 4I.

Resultant intensity at the point of constructive interference is given as follows:
I = I’ + I’ + 2√I’I’ cos 0o
I = 4 I‘
Therefore, the value of the resultant intensity at a point of constructive interference is 4 I’.
