Place Value

Place value is the value of a digit based on its position in a number.

The place value of a digit can be determined by multiplying the digit with the place value of its position.

For example, in the number 365, the place value of 5 is 5 (ones), the place value of 6 is 60 (tens), and the place value of 3 is 300 (hundreds).

Rounding Off

Rounding off is a process of approximating a number to the nearest ten, hundred, or thousand.

To round off a number, look at the digit in the place you want to round off and add 1 to it if the next digit is 5 or more.

For example, to round off 56 to the nearest ten, we look at the digit in the ones place, which is 6. Since the next digit (5) is 5 or more, we add 1 to 6 to get 7. Therefore, 56 rounded off to the nearest ten is 60.

Comparing Numbers

Comparing numbers involves finding out which number is greater than, less than, or equal to another number.
