Short Division Method to Find HCF of 242 and 88

Follow these steps:


  • Write the two numbers as a divisor and dividend on the left-hand side of the page.

  • Divide the smaller number from the larger number and write the remainder on the same line.

  • Write the divisor on the next line and divide the previous remainder by the divisor.

  • Repeat this process until you reach a remainder of 0.

  • The last divisor used is the HCF of the two numbers.
