Who was Megasthenes?

Megasthenes was a Greek historian and diplomat who lived in the 4th and 3rd centuries BCE. He was sent to India by Seleucus Nicator, one of Alexander the Great's generals, as an ambassador to the court of Chandragupta Maurya.
