What are luminous and non luminous flame?
Luminous and Non-Luminous Flames

A flame is a result of a chemical reaction between a fuel and oxygen. Flames can be categorized into two types based on the amount of light they emit:

  • Luminous Flame: A luminous flame is a flame that emits light. It is a yellow or orange flame and is often seen in gas stoves, candles, and oil lamps. This type of flame is caused by incomplete combustion, which means that the fuel is not burning efficiently. As a result, carbon particles are released, which glow and make the flame visible.

  • Non-Luminous Flame: A non-luminous flame is a flame that does not emit light. It is a blue flame and is often seen in gas burners. This type of flame is caused by complete combustion, which means that the fuel is burning efficiently. As a result, there are no carbon particles released, and the flame is not visible.

Differences between Luminous and Non-Luminous Flames

The differences between luminous and non-luminous flames are:

  • Visibility: Luminous flames are visible, whereas non-luminous flames are not.

  • Color: Luminous flames are yellow or orange in color, whereas non-luminous flames are blue in color.

  • Efficiency: Luminous flames are less efficient than non-luminous flames because they are caused by incomplete combustion, which means that the fuel is not burning efficiently.

  • Pollution: Luminous flames produce more pollution than non-luminous flames because they are caused by incomplete combustion, which means that carbon particles are released into the air.

  • Heat: Luminous flames produce less heat than non-luminous flames because they are less efficient.

Therefore, non-luminous flames are preferred over luminous flames because they are more efficient, produce less pollution, and produce more heat.

What are luminous and non luminous flame?
1- Luminous zone - in this zone, partial combustion of wax papa take place with the librarian of lot of energy. This energy party decomposes the wax vapour into carbon particle . The luminous zone of the flame is hotter than dark inner zone and is yellow in colour 2- non luminous zone - it is a zone of complete combustion of wax paper in carbon particles . The air from the side of flame mix with unburnt wax vapours and carbon particles from the Luminous zone and completely burns them to to form carbon dioxide gas and water vapour .it is a hottest part of the flame.
