A person invested Rs. 100,000 at 8% simple interest for 5 years and r...
Calculation of Simple Interest:
Principal = Rs. 100,000
Rate of interest = 8%
Time = 5 years
Simple Interest = (P x R x T)/100
= (100000 x 8 x 5)/100
= Rs. 40,000

Amount received after 5 years = Principal + Simple Interest
= Rs. 100,000 + Rs. 40,000
= Rs. 140,000

Calculation of Compound Interest:
Principal = Rs. 140,000
Rate of interest = 10%
Time = 2 years
Amount = P (1 + R/100)n
= 140000 (1 + 10/100)^2
= Rs. 181,584

Final amount received = Rs. 181,584
Hence, the correct option is D - Rs. 1,69,400.

A person invested Rs. 100,000 at 8% simple interest for 5 years and r...
SI = where SI: Simple Interest
P: Principal
R: Rate
t = time
SI = = 40,000
Amount = SI + P = 40,000 + 100,000 = Rs. 1,40,000
Now, A =
where A: Amount received after principal (P) gets compounded at rate ‘r’ for tenure ‘t’.
A = 1,40,000 = 1,40,000 x (1.1)2
= 1,40,000 x 1.21 = Rs. 1,69,400
