A body starts from rest travels a distance x in first two seconds and ...
Solution:

Let the acceleration of the body be 'a'.

Using the first equation of motion, we have:

x = (1/2)at²

y = (1/2)a(t+2)² - (1/2)at²

y = (1/2)a(t² + 4t + 4) - (1/2)at²

y = (1/2)a(4t + 4)

y = 2a(t + 1)

Dividing y by x, we get:

y/x = 2(t+1) / t

y/x = 2 + 2/t

Since we know that the time taken for the first distance (x) is 2 seconds and the time taken for the second distance (y) is 4 seconds (2+2), we can substitute 't' with 2 in the above equation.

y/x = 2 + 2/2

y/x = 3

Therefore, the relation between x and y is y = 3x.

Hence, option 'C' is the correct answer.
