Can any body explain me the theorem of parallel axis of chapter rotational motion?

Parellel axis theorem is simply explained when we are trying to find moment of inertia with respect to an axis which is not passing through its centre of mass so we will get in trouble to find it by formula so by this theorem we will assume a axis which is passing through its centre of mass and we know the moment of inertia of it so make it easy we can write this theorem like MOI of given axis =MOI of axis passing through c.o.m. + mr^2 where r is distance between these two axis
