's law, the relationship between stress and strain can be expressed as:

σ = Eε

where σ is the stress, E is the Young's modulus (a measure of the stiffness of the material), and ε is the strain (the amount of deformation per unit length). This relationship is known as Hooke's law.

Hooke's law is valid only up to a certain limit called the elastic limit, beyond which the material undergoes permanent deformation (plastic deformation) or even fractures. The elastic limit depends on the material and the loading conditions, and can be determined experimentally.

Hooke's law is widely used in engineering to analyze the behavior of structures and materials under load. It is also used in the design of springs, suspension systems, and other mechanical components that rely on the elasticity of materials.
