Let us assume that Ashutosh's position from the right end of the row is x.
Then, his position from the left end of the row will be (10-x+1) = (11-x).
According to the question, when his position got shifted by two places towards the left, his new position from the left end of the row became 7.
Hence, his new position from the right end of the row will be (10-7+1) = 4.
Therefore, we can form the equation as follows:
(11-x-2) = 7
Simplifying the above equation, we get:
x = 6

Therefore, Ashutosh's earlier position from the right end of the row was 2nd.
