Nobility consisted of the king and the and the peole who were very rich and wealthy and even they dont have to pay taxes.3. The 3rd estate consisted of peasants, farmers, lawyers, some middle class minsters, etc and they all had to pay taxes

In 18 century French society was divided into three estate Clergy, Nobility and third estate people.In Clergy there were rich people, merchants,and other religious leaders.They have several privileges from birth.In Nobility there were also rich business man, rich articians  , peasants, merchants etc.They also have several privalages from birth.In Third estate, there were poor peasants, merchants, articians, daily wages workers ,land less labour etc.They do not have any privalages from the birth.They were majority in number, and have to pay heavy taxes.

nobility (people who were involved in the king's court)
and third estate consisted of people who were either business men, traders, manufacturers etc.
in order to meet various expenses, Louis xvi decided to collect taxes from the third estate. howerver this method couldn't have sufficed due to lack of large number of people in this estate.
