Solution:
Step 1: Find the value of x and y
Given that 2x + 3y = 12 and xy = 6

x = 6/y
Substituting this value of x in the first equation, we get:
2(6/y) + 3y = 12
12/y + 3y = 12
12 + 3y^2 = 12y
3y^2 - 12y + 12 = 0
Dividing both sides by 3, we get:
y^2 - 4y + 4 = 0
(y - 2)^2 = 0
y = 2
Substituting this value of y in the equation xy = 6, we get:
x(2) = 6
x = 3
Therefore, x = 3 and y = 2
