Animals and plants are two different organisms that have different ways of growth and development. While plants continue to grow throughout their life, animals have a limited time for growth.


The growth of both animals and plants is influenced by several factors such as genetics, environment, and nutrition. However, there are certain factors that affect the growth of animals and plants differently.


Animals have a predetermined growth pattern that is controlled by hormones. These hormones regulate the growth of the animal's body until it reaches its maximum size. After that, the animal will not grow any further, and any new cells that are produced will be used to replace old and damaged cells.

On the other hand, plants have indeterminate growth, which means that they continue to grow throughout their life. The growth of plants is not controlled by hormones like animals. Instead, plant growth is regulated by meristems, which are specialized tissues that produce new cells. These meristems are located at the tips of the plant's roots and shoots, and they continue to produce new cells throughout the life of the plant.


Another reason why plants continue to grow throughout their life while animals do not is because of their lifespan. Most animals have a relatively short lifespan compared to plants. For example, a fruit fly may only live for a few weeks, while a tree can live for hundreds of years. Because plants have a longer lifespan, they need to be able to continue to grow and develop throughout their life to adapt to changing environmental conditions.


In conclusion, animals and plants have different growth patterns and lifespans, which contribute to why animals grow only till a particular age whereas plants grow throughout their life. Animals have a predetermined growth pattern that is controlled by hormones and a relatively short lifespan, while plants have indeterminate growth that is regulated by meristems and a longer lifespan.

Plants also grow in a similar manner to that of animals. A stem grows for a limited time period ,but it certain meristems at certain parts which have tissues capable of growing,dividing and self perpetuating again.
