- The candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan.
- Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India are also eligible.
- Candidates of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India can also apply.

2. Age Limit:
- The minimum age limit for candidates is 20 years, and the maximum age limit is 28 years.
- There is age relaxation for certain categories like SC/ST, OBC, PWD, Ex-servicemen, etc. as per the government norms.

3. Educational Qualification:
- The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the central government.
- Proficiency in the local language of the state/UT for which the candidate is applying is essential.
- Computer literacy is also required, as candidates should have a certificate/diploma/degree in computer operations or should have studied computer/information technology as one of the subjects in their high school/college.

4. Computer Literacy:
- The candidate should have knowledge of operating and working with computer systems.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and basic software packages like MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is necessary.

5. Language Proficiency:
- The candidate should be proficient in the official language of the state/UT for which they are applying.
- They should be able to read, write, and speak the language fluently.

6. Number of Attempts:
- The number of attempts for the IBPS Clerk Exam is subject to the age limit criteria.
- General category candidates can attempt the exam a maximum of 4 times.
- There is relaxation in the number of attempts for candidates belonging to reserved categories.
