Selection Process for IBPS PO Exam:

The selection process for the IBPS PO (Probationary Officer) exam consists of three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination:
- The first stage is a preliminary examination, which is conducted online.
- The preliminary exam consists of three sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
- The candidates are shortlisted for the next stage based on their performance in the preliminary exam.

2. Main Examination:
- The second stage is the main examination, which is also conducted online.
- The main exam consists of four sections: English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, and General/Economy/Banking Awareness.
- There is also a descriptive paper in which candidates have to write an essay and a letter.
- The marks obtained in the main examination are considered for shortlisting candidates for the interview round.

3. Interview:
- The final stage of the selection process is the interview round.
- Candidates who qualify the main examination are called for an interview.
- The interview is conducted by a panel of experts who assess the candidate's personality, communication skills, and knowledge in banking and current affairs.
- The interview panel evaluates the candidate's overall suitability for the position of a Probationary Officer.

Shortlisting Candidates for the Interview Round:

The candidates are shortlisted for the interview round based on their performance in the main examination. The following factors are taken into consideration while shortlisting candidates:

1. Cut-off Score:
- Each candidate has to score the minimum cut-off marks in each section of the main examination as well as the overall cut-off score to be considered for the interview round.
- The cut-off marks are decided by IBPS based on various factors such as the number of vacancies and the difficulty level of the exam.

2. Total Marks:
- The total marks obtained by the candidates in the main examination are considered for shortlisting.
- The candidates with higher marks have a better chance of getting shortlisted.

3. Category-wise Reservation:
- IBPS follows the reservation policy as per the government norms.
- Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, etc., have a certain percentage of reservations.
- The shortlisting of candidates for the interview round also takes into account the category-wise reservations.

4. Total Vacancies:
- The number of candidates shortlisted for the interview round depends on the total number of vacancies.
- The ratio of candidates to vacancies is decided by IBPS.

After considering all these factors, the candidates who meet the required criteria and are ranked high in the merit list are shortlisted for the interview round. The final selection is based on the combined performance of the main examination and the interview round.
