The IBPS RRB PO Exam is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to select candidates for the post of Probationary Officer in Regional Rural Banks (RRB). The exam pattern for IBPS RRB PO consists of three sections:


The preliminary exam is the first stage of the selection process. It consists of two sections, namely:

- Reasoning: This section includes questions related to logical reasoning, puzzles, coding-decoding, etc.
- Quantitative Aptitude: This section tests the candidates' mathematical skills and includes topics like number system, simplification, data interpretation, etc.

Both sections have a total of 40 questions each, with a maximum duration of 45 minutes. The exam is conducted online, and each question carries 1 mark. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.


Candidates who qualify the preliminary exam are eligible to appear for the main exam. The main exam consists of the following sections:

- Reasoning: This section tests the candidates' logical and analytical reasoning ability through questions like seating arrangement, syllogism, input-output, etc.
- General Awareness: This section evaluates the candidates' knowledge of current affairs, banking awareness, and general knowledge.
- Numerical Ability: This section assesses the candidates' mathematical skills and includes topics like data interpretation, quadratic equations, profit and loss, etc.
- English/Hindi Language: This section tests the candidates' proficiency in the English or Hindi language, depending on their choice.

The main exam has a total of 200 questions, with a maximum duration of 2 hours. Each question carries 1 mark, and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.


Candidates who qualify the main exam are called for a personal interview. The interview aims to assess the candidates' communication skills, personality, and suitability for the role of a Probationary Officer.
