Plants prepare their food by the process of photosynthesis, in which one of the main component is carbon dioxide which is used by the plants in required amount. bt when the concentration of carbon dioxide is increased in atmosphere (by burning fuels,trees,etc) ,it becomes harmful for the environment as it leads to global warming, green house effect..then it is referred to as a pollutant.
