Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Department of Space has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop Krishi-Decision Support System (Krishi-DSS).
It is a decision support system similar to the Gati Shakti program.
Aim- to enhance the evidence-based decision-making capability of stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
It will be developed using RISAT-1A (Radar Imaging Satellite 1) and the VEDAS portal of the Department of Space.
It integrates with MOSDAC and BHUVAN (Geo-platform) of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the systems of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
It will use geospatial technologies and related databases.
RISAT-1A- enables imaging of surface features during both day and night and under all weather conditions.
VEDAS portal- is a portal of ISRO that gives information like- Vegetation and crop monitoring, air quality, Monitoring Water level, Flood forecast, Polar ice study, Ship navigation, etc.
Meteorological and Oceanographic Satellite Data Archival Centre (MOSDAC)- is a data repository for missions of ISRO dealing with meteorology, oceanography, and tropical water cycles.
Bhuvan- is an Indian repository that allows users to explore a set of map-based content prepared by ISRO.
