The leader of the Lok Sabha is appointed by the Lok Sabha Speaker.
Important Facts:-
  • The Prime minister becomes the automatic leader of the house of which he is a member.
  • If the Prime Minister is a member of Lok Sabha then he will become the leader of Lok Sabha and if he is a member of Rajya Sabha he will become the leader of the Lok Sabha.
  • Similarly, the Leader of the opposition in the House is appointed by the Speaker and Chairman respectively in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

  • According to Article 61, the President can be removed from his office before the expiry of his term only on the grounds of violation of the constitution.
Note:
  • Indian Constitution contains no definition of ‘violation of the constitution.’
Prime Minister:-
  • Article 75 of the Indian Constitution mentions that a Prime Minister is one who is appointed by the President.
  • To become an Indian prime minister one has to be—
    • A citizen of India.
    • A member of either Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha
    • He should have completed his 30 years if he is a member of the Rajya Sabha or can be 25 years of age if he is a member of the Lok Sabha
  • The Prime Minister is appointed by the President of the country and the Council of Ministers are also appointed by the President based on the advice of the Prime Minister.
  • The Council is collectively responsible to the Lok Sabha.
