Oxidation is either gain of oxygen,/ removal of hydrogen / loss of electrons. e.g. c + o =Co here carbon oxidised. .while reduction means either gain of hydrogen /loss of oxygen /gain of electrons.##take example CH4 + CI2 =CH3CI + HCI. here CH4 get oxidised bcz of H removal  (see above lines)  while Cl get reduced bcoz of addition of H. Redox Reaction

- In a redox reaction, one substance is oxidized while another is reduced.
