  • a)
The pressure exerted is lesser when the same force is used
  • b)
The pressure exerted is greater when the same force is used
  • c)
The sharp edge can pass through the material slowly
  • d)

Pressure Exerted is Greater with a Sharp Knife
When a knife is sharp, it means that the edge of the blade comes to a very fine point. This fine point concentrates the force applied to the knife, allowing it to exert more pressure on the material being cut.

Lesser Force Required
Because of the increased pressure from a sharp knife, less force is needed to cut through materials. This is because the sharp edge easily penetrates the material due to the concentrated force, making the cutting process smoother and more efficient.

Reduced Resistance
A sharp knife creates less resistance as it cuts through material compared to a dull knife. The sharp edge is able to cleanly slice through the material with minimal friction, making the cutting action easier and requiring less effort from the user.

Precision Cutting
The sharpness of the knife allows for more precise cuts as the edge can easily navigate through the material without tearing or crushing it. This is especially important when working with delicate items or when a clean cut is desired.

Conclusion
In conclusion, a sharp knife enables us to cut through things more easily because it exerts greater pressure on the material, requires less force, reduces resistance, and allows for more precise cutting. It is important to regularly sharpen knives to maintain their sharpness for efficient and effective cutting.

Why does a sharp knife enable us to cut through things more easily?a)T...
The pressure is defined as the force per unit area. i.e  P=F/A
So the pressure depends on the force F and area A of contact.
If force is constant, the pressure is only depends on the area.
A sharp knife edge has small area of contact and less area of contact will produce the more pressure.
Thus, the option B can be correct.
