If the radius of the Earth were to shrink by 1%, the acceleration due to gravity on Earth would increase.

The acceleration due to gravity, denoted as g, is given by the equation:

g = (GM) / (r^2)

Where G is the gravitational constant, M is the mass of the Earth, and r is the radius of the Earth.

If the mass of the Earth remains the same and only the radius shrinks, the numerator in the equation does not change. However, the denominator decreases due to the decrease in radius. As a result, the value of g will increase.

Therefore, if the radius of the Earth were to shrink by 1%, the acceleration due to gravity on Earth would increase.
