In 1774, King Louis XVI ascended the throne. He was 20 when he married princess Mary Antoinette, a beauty of her time. The king made a immense palace for her, referred as palace of Versailles. It ruined the treasury for the maintenance of the palace. This leaded to the arrogance of the people. Mean while, the 3rd estate amongst the all three was discriminated and insulted during an assembly of the Estates general to pass proposals for new taxes. The 1st and the 2nd estates sat facing each other, while the third stood gaping at the monarch. This leaded to the violence and anger in the mob which resulted to the French revolution
