The process is called as fractional distillation.Crude oil is a mixture of many different substances.Different substances have a different boiling point and get converted into vapour at a different temperature.Fractions or Levels are made at different heights in the distillation column and heat is supplied at the bottom of the column.Substances with lower boiling point vaporise first and get condense at a particular level.Similarly, different products from crude oil will get condense at different levels which are then collected separately.
