Concepts:
Two-point problems and Three-point problems are methods of orientation & resection in plane table survey.
Resection is a method of plane table surveying in which the location of a plane table is unknown. The location of a plane table is determined by looking at it to known points. These known points may be either two well-defined points, called two-point problems, or three well-defined points, called three-point problems.
Orientation is the operation of turning the table so that all the lines on the paper are parallel to the corresponding lines on the ground.
1. Two points problems: In this, the position of the station occupied by the plane table is determined by means of observations of two well-defined points whose positions have been previously plotted on the plan.
2. Three-point problems: In this, the location or position of the station occupied by the plane table is determined by means of observations of three well-defined points whose positions have been previously plotted on the plan. It requires less time, and labor and is more accurate and simpler.
